Reflecting on the NAFSCE Assembly: Inspiration, Collaboration, and the Future of Family Engagement

We’re still riding the wave of inspiration from the NAFSCE Assembly! Connecting with so many dedicated leaders was a highlight for our team, and we left feeling energized by the collective commitment to family engagement.

Our time at the Assembly reinforced our mission to empower families and collaborate with educators to create meaningful change. We’re excited to continue building on the momentum sparked by these incredible conversations and connections.

Collaborating on the NAFSCE Assembly: A Shared Vision

As co-planners of this year’s Assembly, we had the opportunity to contribute to the event’s design and share our insights. One of our favorite projects was the Family Engagement History Walk. Seeing attendees explore and reflect on the history of our field was deeply rewarding and a reminder of how far we’ve come—and how far we can go together.

Highlights From Our Sessions

Here’s a look back at some of the impactful conversations we were honored to lead:

• The Abbott Elementary Protocol
  Diana, Justin, and Kyle led a session on Educator Preparation for Family and Community Engagement, introducing our “Abbott Elementary Protocol,” designed to help educators see engagement from multiple perspectives.

• Incubation Lab: Innovating Family Engagement Projects
  Megan and Kyle facilitated a session where leaders collaborated to refine and expand their innovative family engagement projects, fostering creative solutions to common challenges.

• DadTalk and “What About Dad?”
  Mike led two sessions highlighting the critical role of fathers in student success and shared strategies for building strong school partnerships with dads.

• Building Bridges: Enhancing Family Engagement Across Colorado
  Justin and Kyle, with Kate Garvin and RMFEC, co-led a session showcasing collaborative efforts between local and national leaders to strengthen family engagement across Colorado.
